What entertains one person or group may not provide entertainment to another. This makes it important for an article writer to understand who his audience is before writing any kind of entertainment piece. Knowing this will help the writer format and write an article that will be appealing to the reader.
Start by asking the “5 W’s” – who, what, when, where and why. By answering these questions before beginning to write the article, the writer can better understand how to structure his work and what facts will be most important to include in the lead paragraph of the story.
It is also helpful to research the author, director or creator of the piece being reviewed. Oftentimes a comparison to previous works will give the reader a sense of how this latest work fits into the author’s overall work.
