Entertaiment is a complex, ever-changing form of art that can be found on any scale — from a private entertainment chosen from an enormous variety of pre-recorded products; to the entertainment of a dinner party for two; to performances intended for thousands and even for a global audience. While the experience of being entertained has become a largely lighthearted and fun affair, many entertainments may have a more serious purpose, whether in the form of ceremony, celebration, religious festival, or satire for example. This is one of the reasons that entertainment has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt and cross over mediums.
