What is Law New?

Law new is an article describing significant changes in existing laws and/or rules. It also sets forth the purpose and scope of a bill and includes committee amendments, text of laws being repealed, executive communications relating to the bill, and the section-by-section analysis that is required for bills that are reported out of committee. The report is an important source of legislative history for courts, agencies, and the public.

This bill would require City agencies that have a data breach involving persons’ private identifying information to promptly disclose it to the Chief Privacy Officer, Office of Cyber Command and Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, in addition to the NYPD. It would also make some adjustments to City data breach notification laws to align them with State law.

This bill would require DCWP, in consultation with the Department of Consumer Affairs, to prepare and make available to City agencies to provide to their employees and job applicants notice regarding federal and state student loan forgiveness programs. It would also add a new licensing requirement for third-party food delivery services.
